Remote Controlled Nerf Gun/ Squirrel Defender

Remote Controlled Nerf Gun/ Squirrel Defender

I asked Chat GPT how to stop squirrels from raiding my Bird Feeder because who knows more about animals than AI?

WATCH HERE: AI Told Me How To Stop Squirrels From Raiding My Bird Feeder

This build was the first time I had ever done any robotics or coding. I basically used an Arduino 4 wifi to connect with their app allowing me to control two servos remotely. That alone took like 20+ hours of learning and tinkering maybe? And I ultimately used ChatGPT to write the code for me then had to debug it a bit.

The original idea was to have a video feed go to my phone as well from a camera attached to the nerf gun AND have it automatically detect and shoot at the squirrels. I quickly realized that was going to take me AGES and naturally as I learned more I realized just how much I didn't know about coding and robotics and had to pivot to something within my capability a bit.

I'm proud to say that I gained enough confidence that I will for sure have some sort of robotics involved in a future project. But I am not a programmer. I think there's a reason that there's an overlap with developers and people who love masochistic video games like Dark Souls. I don't have that kind of patience my friends.

The attachment of the servos to the nerf gun was UNBELIEVABLY sloppy. Just a hodge podge of hot glue and tape. But hey, it got the job done damn it! What I was proud of though was some of my editing and story telling in this video. Specifically the coding bit. Also I like some more subtle written jokes, that I snuck in. Did you see em? Let me know in the comments if so, they make me laugh at least. OH ALSO, YES the dart hit me directly in the eye. I thought I would be able to dodge it with my ELITE reflexes.
