I Turned a Pressure Cooker into a High-Powered SOUP CANNON! AKA The Crud Cannon!

I Turned a Pressure Cooker into a High-Powered SOUP CANNON! AKA The Crud Cannon!

I am a Campbell, and a PROUD Campbell! But you know what disgusts me? The utter lack of innovation in the soup industry from the Campbell Soup Company! So I decided to take it upon MYSELF to deliver the innovation in the soup family that will change the world! All of the innovation has circled around flavors and textures and silly stuff like that but what about how we deliver the soup from pot to mouth? That why I built the Crud Cannon!

Holy shit is it hard to learn things the older I get. The only way to execute my vision of this build was to buy a 3-D printer, learn how to design custom parts in blender and accidently take Adderall at 9pm for the first time and work in painting it until 3 in the morning before deciding I should probably try to get some sleep knowing that there really wasn't a snowball's change in hell that I would pass out. ANYWHOOOO...

I couldn't be more proud of how this build turned out! I wanted it to look like I'm firing soup straight from the pot and that's exactly what I did. Certain aspects I stumbled across like making the soup can to cover the barrel with the Cream of Crud soup label. That was actually quite tricky. But I designed 4 custom fit, 3D printed parts in blender. My process was to start with the easiest component (the cream blast to fit over the end of the barrel) then as I learned more about blender work my way into the main course (the bracket that housed the air compressor).

Starting with the creamy barrel, the only dimensions that mattered were the length and maintaining the internal circumference to fit over the barrel. Once I learned how to lock those in, I could sculpt away until I managed to get a liquid like look to it.

The next part I developed was the handle. I'm not gonna lie, in my pursuit for great gripping ergonomics, I created what looks like ass cheeks with legs. It does fit in the hand well though.

Next, I created a fake soup can. It was shockingly difficult, even though it was just a bumpy cylinder really. But the spacing and depth of the ridges gave me some real issues. Designing the Cream of Crud label was a blast though!

Finally, designing the bracket to hold the pressure gun was so difficult and must have taken me like a good 20 - 30 hours of measuring and trial and error. It's not the most regular shape, but I got precise measurements of the largest parts on the top and then made a shape to replicate that. Then I used that shape to cut out of a larger box. Next, it turns from a box to a circle, so I had to do the same. That was the trickiest part to nail down. I had so many issues with my mesh, I had to spend hours trying to fix but eventually I got to a point that I could start adding some nice design details. I raised the words Crud Cannon on the side and found a nice cursive font to somewhat mirrors the Campbell Soup font. Then I added some little braces to hold up the barrel.

And it ended up somehow, miraculously all working perfectly. It didn't break! It could shoot my chunky ass cream of crud soup! AND I still don't know how to get more than like 500 views... But the lack of results and growth has just humbled me over and over and cemented the lesson that I have no choice but to be obsessed with and keep falling in love with the process. The builds. The edits. The bits. I love that shit more now than ever, and while I'll continue to strive to make this a career I genuinely believe the only way to make that happen is to obsess over the craft and the process to ultimately drive the results. k byeeee
