I Modified my Surfcycle and Went White Water Rafting

What do you get when a bicycle has and a belly boat and a surfboard have a threesome and one of them ends up pregnant and has a kid? Welp, you get my Surf-Cycle! Check out how the updated surf cycle did in the rapids below and lets get into it!

WATCH White Water Bicycle Disaster!

This was actually the original reason I built this thing, but honestly I wasn't able to finish it in time before I had our road trip vacation to Florida THUS the surfing video had to be prioritized. But, the white water is FAR more technical than the open ocean. It's like the waves require just brute force to get it out past the break while the white water required more durability and control to attempt to navigate through.

This video came together much quicker however I timed it a little late in the season. Water levels of the rivers in Colorado are dependent on snow melt. And at this time in the fall, the snow is pretty much done melting, so we were working with the BEAR MINIMUM amount of water. And ultimately it wasn't enough to make it through.

This is also my first time using my new Insta 360 camera and I absolutely LOVE that camera! It give you so many options and adds such a nice variety to the shots I'm able to capture. There were some technical challenges I came across when trying to edit with the footage but all new equipment comes with a learning curve.

Outside of the actual trip to Clear Creek, my favorite part filming this video was the duct taped captive bit. It probably took us 20 minutes to get the 3 or 4 takes that we did while I just laid there hog tied. Then after a take, my girlfriend would come over with the camera, rip the duct tape off of my eyes and mouth, play it back for me (while I'm still just laying there like a worm on the ground), I would give her some feedback for the next take then she'd cover me back up and we'd run it again. I can now say definitively I DO NOT like being tied up. Shoulders couldn't take it for too long...

My welding took a big step up, that rudder was quite tricky. I had to be really precise with the spacing and angles to keep it as symmetrical as possible and as I stand before you, they took a BEATING and survived! My piece of shit used bicycle on the other hand got TRASHED, and the front forms will need to be replace with something made of steel the next time around.

Anyways, another video with about 500 views at this time, so the results clearly aren't there yet but my process and skills are getting better and better. On to the next one!
