Can A Giant Umbrella Be Used As A Parachute?

Can A Giant Umbrella Be Used As A Parachute?

EVERYONE has thought about using an umbrella like a parachute but I actually did it! This idea is like one of those brain worms that has been in Mary Poppins, Fortnite, Batman, Arrested Development and more because it feels like it should just work! I actually made it work, and it was magical!

Sewing was the new skill I acquired in order to build this and it's really quite enjoyable! I hemmed our curtains shorted as practice then cut some strips of ripstop nylon off to experiment. I found myself frequently trying to force the material through rather than just guiding it as it naturally feeds itself through. This caused some sloppy stitching I had to redo. I also wasn't leaving enough margin when stitching two pieces together so occasionally I would run too close to the edge.

The shaping of the handle was also completely new for me! But the real struggle of this video was testing it. I admittedly got incredibly frustrated when my attempts to test it without me attached proved to be impractical. Then I also got shutout of the lake cliff jump because it LITERALLY FROZE THE NIGHT BEFORE! I was checking alltrails each day leading up to the weekend and it was liquid, then the morning of it was frozen but I thought ehhhh fuck it it'll make for a good story point anyways.

Right now the views are doing great on this one and I'm elated. Lots of support and super kind comments. I just can't wait until the next one and hopefully I can start picking up traction. One day, all the disappointing results, late nights editing and back pain will pay off.
